The most disheartening sequence of events is when you put so much time and effort into building your website, and getting it up and running to make money online, but then end up with no visitors. The sad thing is that you may be offering a product or service which would do extremely well. Unfortunately, if nobody knows about your product or service, it has no chance of being sold. For this reason, we have put together a three step process which will ensure that people know about what you have to offer.
1. Writing Articles is Critical
I am not sure how much I can stress this. It is extremely important that you write articles which are relevant to the niche market of your website. Furthermore, you must add these articles to either your website or blog, and submit them to as many article directories as attainable. I do not care if you are not the best writer out there. If you are reading this article, you are more than able to write your own articles.
It is best to keep your articles short. At some point, people stop reading. Therefore, you need to keep your article short enough so that they read all the way through to your resource box. As a rule of thumb, keep your articles between 300-500 words, if possible. Furthermore, make sure that you are providing your niche market with valuable information. Do not utilize this as a venue to promote your agenda. You will have the highest probability to make money online through your website, not your articles.
Keep in mind that you want to steer people to your website with your articles. Once they have read your article, they will be more receptive to the sales pitch of your website as they have already been pre-sold by the article.
2. Always Include A Link To Your Website At The Conclusion Of The Article
Once you have created an informative article, relevant to your niche, why not take credit for it? Place the link to your website at the bottom of the article. Often times people like to add a resource box prior to adding their link to give a little information about themselves. I have no problem with this. However, you need to keep it short, and get to the point quickly. Keep in mind that the reader has already taken the time to read your article, so at this point, their attention is waning.
When you do link to your website in the resource box, make sure that the link uses one of your main keywords as anchor text. This is how the search engines know that your website is relevant to the keyword, and how websites are ranked for certain keywords. For more on this subject, simply type “anchor text” into one of the search engines.
3. Submit Your Article to the Major Article Directories
Now that your articles are ready and complete with a resource box at the end, you need to gain their full benefit by submitting them to the article directories. Doing this will create one way links back to your website with your stated anchor text, and will make your website more relevant to the search engines for the keyword stated. You should make sure that your submit your articles to GoArticles, EzineArticles, iSnare, Article Dashboard, Article Base, Article City, and Idea Marketers.
Just realize that to make money online, you have to be consistent over time. Keep adding new content both to your website, and to the article directories. This will not only result in direct traffic to your website, but a favorable outlook from the search engines.
