How To Make Money – Abandon Your Comfort Zone

March 27th, 2010 by Brian Lett | No Comments | Filed in Work from Home

Change is something that you will have to embrace if you want to learn how to make money. Of course, it is hard to make a leopard change its spots, or a tiger change its stripes for that matter. This is especially the case when we have become so accustomed to doing things a certain way, that we no longer need to think about them. Nonetheless, developing new habits which are contrary to what we are used to will require courage, perseverance, and self-instruction.

One of the most common occurrences, if acting impulsively upon a desire to make money money. As a result, many are often enticed by promises of immediate fortune. Based on the promise that handing over thousands of dollars to an absolute stranger will soon result in tens of thousands of dollars, many people fall for the bait. Unfortunately, they realize that the only individual who has any chance of receiving tens of thousands of dollars, is the person who just relieved you of your hard earned money. It quickly becomes apparent not only that there is no money to be made, but that you are worse off than you were in the beginning.

Therefore, anyone who wants to discover how to make money over the long-term must come to the understanding that things are going to have to change. We will discuss some of these changes below.

1. Become Self-Educated

Next to your intrinsic motivation, your ability to educate yourself is the most important component to your success. Knowing the exact steps which you must take day to day in order to accomplish your goals will give you the power to make them come to life. In the area of online money, I suggest that you check the credibility of your resources as well. One thing that you should be aware of is the fact that while the Internet is a great information resource, it is also a tool for those faceless individuals who are out to take your money and never look back.

2. Keep it Real

Yes, I understand that you have seen countless websites which contradict what I am telling you right now. You know who they are. They promise you that you can, “Fire your boss”, and “Make $10,000 in the next 30 days”. I wonder why they are trying so hard to convince you to allow them to help you to become rich. Why don’t they just keep their secret to themselves and make all of the money? It is because the secret is that they are going to take your money, and that is how their money is made. Once you are able to determine fact from fiction, you can set your goals, and determine how long it will take to accomplish them. This will enable you to figure out what is real, and avoid being disappointed.

3. First Plan, Then Take Action

For those of you who want to be successful, you must visualize your success, plan what you need to do to achieve this success, then do it. You have to write your plan down. I do not care if it is sophisticated or not. What I suggest, is simply purchasing a notebook for a couple of dollars, and placing your vision within. In your notebook, you will outline both your short-term, and long-term goals. Keep in mind that you short-term goals are merely stages which must be completed to reach your long-term goals. For each goal, you must write down the specific actions which must be taken for it to be achieved, as well as the length of time it will take. Each time you achieve a goal, check it off of your list. It is very important that you track your progress over time. Whenever you feel like reverting to your old negative habits, look at what you have accomplished thus far. You will not only surprise yourself, but also motivate yourself to keep on track.

4. Just Say NO

Avoid situations which will prevent you from accomplishing your goals. This is especially important in the beginning, before your new way of life comes natural to you.

5. Give Yourself a Big Thumbs Up

When I say this, I mean right now. You are making a decision to learn how to make money and better your life. You should be proud of this. When you hit certain goals, you need to acknowledge your accomplishments in a manner which is congruent with your newfound success. For example, if in the past, looking at your bank statement made you upset because it reminded you of how much you have been struggling, print your statement our and circle the balance when it hits the numerical figure that you were shooting for.

How To Make Money – Polish Up Those Writing Skills

March 23rd, 2010 by Brian Lett | No Comments | Filed in Work from Home

For all of you who are still trying to figure out how to make money, pay attention. Article marketing is a cost free strategy which will take some time and effort, but will put you in a position to earn money from the sale of niche products and services.

One thing that you need to know about search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and Bing, is that they are always looking for the most relevant and up to date information to match queries with. Why not provide them with the content which they are looking for via your articles. What you need to do, is to write informative articles, and submit them to as many article directories as possible. A few article directories that I would recommend are GoArticles, EzineArticles, Article City, Article Base, iSnare, and Idea Marketers. The reason why it is important to submit your article to as many directories as possible, is so that your articles become indexed by the search engines. The nice thing about directories is that the search engines trust them. Therefore, your articles, which have been accepted into the directories, will also be trusted. As you can probably guess, trust is a major factor in determining whether or not content is indexed by the search engines. So, now that we know where we need to submit our articles, why don’t we discuss how to make money with these articles.

First of all, you must come up with a topic. Doing this can often result in a little bit of anxiety. Thus, I have come up with a few suggestions which I think will help.

A method which I utilize quite frequently to discover new article topics is visiting forums, and learning of what the major topic of discussion is. If people are talking about a topic, this means that they are interested in this topic. As such, you should write about topics which have to most forum activity.

Take a look at what information is showing up in the news feeds of the search engines. These are usually highly searched topics. Follow blogs on the subject of how to make money. What are people blogging about? What kind of comments are their readers leaving? What sorts of questions do they have?

If you have a website of your own, consider getting some feedback. You can either ask your visitors and customers to fill out a short survey, or post a poll on your website. Give them a choice of what type of articles they would like to see published on your website. Once you have the information, write on these topics, and offer products to your readers within this niche.

Visit a few online bookstores. Pay special attention to the prevailing topics of the books which they are most heavily promoting. These are some topics which you should consider writing articles on, as they are surely topics of popular interest.

Also make sure that you consider which season you are currently in. For instance, if it is the middle of July, you do not want to writing articles about snowmobiling safety. Rather, you are likely to have greater success writing articles about boat safety, and promote a product which relates to boat safety on your website or blog.

Usually fads are spoken about somewhat negatively. However, when it comes to article writing, we appreciate fads more than most. The next newest, biggest things is what you need to be writing about. If you were ever sitting and wondering how to make money from the next fad, just write a comprehensive article on a subject related to that fad, and guide your reader to your sales page promoting the fad product or service.

Keep tabs on what questions your visitors and customers are asking. If you find that you are getting a higher volume of questions on a specific topic, this topic might make for a good article topic. Just think of all of the people who may have the same questions, but may be too shy to ask.

All in all, if you are trying to learn how to make money, hopefully some of your questions have been answered by this article.

How To Make Money – Reduce Your Marketing Budget

March 15th, 2010 by Brian Lett | No Comments | Filed in Work from Home

Did you make it your New Year’s Resolution to determine how to make money with your online business? If so, you are probably going to need some advertising. I can hear you collectively saying that you do not have money to advertise. As a result, I am writing this article. If you keep reading, you will learn how to get the most bang for your buck when it comes to spending your advertising dollars.

1. Bargaining

I am sure that you have a friend who always seems to get discounts. Everyone pays full price, while they always get the best deal. Why does this happen? It is because they ask. They make it clear to the person who is trying to get their business that they will go elsewhere if they do not receive a discount.

Therefore, when purchasing advertising, you have to make sure that the person you are doing business with realizes that you will go elsewhere if you do not receive your price from them. For instance, if you are purchasing banner ad space from a webmaster with a high traffic niche website, just realize that if you pay them half of what they are asking, it is an infinite amount more than what they will get if the space remains vacant. These vacancies can add up over the months. Your job is to make the webmaster aware of this fact, without being blunt.

Remember, how to make money is a blood relative of how to save money. They both have the same last name, and increase your profit margin.

2. Cutting Ads

Bigger ads attract more customers, right? Actually, this is not true. What is true is that with advertising, smaller ads tend to do better than larger, more expensive ads. So realize that if you limit size, you are not necessarily limiting the results.

3. Implementation

I am willing to bet that not very many people reading this article can distinguish between advertising and publicity. The only distinction is who is talking about your business. When you promote and talk about your business, that is advertising. However, when others promote and talk about your business, that is publicity. We have all see publicity at work. It is usually referred to as “word of mouth” marketing. Someone likes your product or service, and tells their, customers, colleagues, friends and family how great it is.

What you need to do, is figure out a way to get the positive focus on your company. For instance, if you were launching a new product which would solve a major problem of your niche market, now would be a good time to put a press release together. You can also write some informative articles, and market them via article directories, with a link to your website in the resource box. Further, you should not overlook promoting a product or service of a business which is not in competition with yours, in exchange for the promotion of your product. This strategy works best when the two businesses have products which complement one another, and are highly relevant to the niche market.

4. Advancement

Is your business offering something which is simply too good to refuse? If not, you have to get a better offer. I am not saying that you should give your products or services away for free. However, you should make your products or services more appealing. You can do this by simply showing the reader exactly what your product or service will do for them, and why they cannot live without it. Conversely, you can add a free bonus which really costs you nothing, but is perceived as highly valuable by the buyer.

You can also light a fire under you buyer by letting them know that the price will go up if they do not purchase now. For instance, you can offer a 10% discount for an immediate order. I can attest first hand that this works. I was looking at computers last fall with no intention of purchasing on that day. Then I realized that there was a sale on one of the computers which I was interested which would save me $200. I ended up purchasing the computer right then and there to get the discount.

Just remember that when doing the things necessary so that you can determine how to make money, advertising does not have to empty your bank account to be effective. When you learn to negotiate, know when smaller ads are as effective as large ads, ask for discounts, and create an irresistible offer, you are on your way to sending your profit margins sky-high.

Work From Home – Choosing The Best Domain is Critical

March 14th, 2010 by Brian Lett | No Comments | Filed in Work from Home

If you are planning to work from home by starting up a home business, you will undoubtedly need a website. So what should you choose as your domain name?

We are all subject to the Internet era. As much as some people have tried to avoid this era by not learning how to send a simple email, or refusing to join Facebook, they have realized that they were fighting a losing battle, and have since given in to the way things are today. Nonetheless, when it comes to selecting the right domain name for your home business website, we have yet to reach a consensus regarding as to what the most important factors in domain selection are. However, there is a consensus that whatever domain name you choose should be highly relevant to the plan and foresight of your online business. For instance, you can choose a domain which contains a keyword which is relevant to your work from home endeavor. Doing so will make it easier for your website to rank for this keyword. However, you must not lose sight of your business brand or description in the domain. Furthermore, you should pay attention to the length of your domain name, how it sounds when spoken, its memorability, and whether the name is taken in a different extension (ie. .net, .org, .biz, etc.).

With that being said, let us look at the three major rationales used when choosing a domain.

1) Domains For Search Engine Placement

The purpose of this sort of domain, is to rank high in the search engines. Such domains contain the keywords being searched for. Search engine domains are very rarely brandable, and are primarily utilized to redirect traffic to a main website. A company who sells blue widgets would benefit from acquiring blue-widgets.com and bluewidgets.com, firstly, because it is natural that people will remember such address, but most importantly, such a domain name has a high probability of ranking at, or very near to, the top of a search for ‘blue widgets’.

2) Branding Your Business With Your Domain

When coming from the offline business into the work from home Internet world, the obvious choice for brand domains is the offline brand name plus a: (dot) com and/or (dot) country extension. Country extensions are used in countries were there is more popularity in their country extension than on the .com. In the case that no brand existed prior to moving online, one must be very creative when composing their brandable name. Keep in mind that there are millions of domain names registered around the world, and that the Internet is not region specific. Consequently, one often finds that the desired domain is taken. There is a consensus among most Internet domain experts that the shorter the domain, the better. A domain which is approximately five letters long is highly desirable for a brand. However, the domain must sound right as well. For instance, yxxtz.com would be undesirable, because it cannot be easily said to or remembered by the general public.

3) General Term Domains

Back in the late 1990’s, companies were registering general term domains in droves. This was known as the (dot) com boom. However, when the (dot) com bubble burst, many companies who utilized a strategy choosing general term domains crumbled. There were other companies who refused to go this route, and instead focused on creating a brand for their business with their domain name. Several of these companies where able to survive the (dot) com crash. Having said that, general term domains do hold value, and should not be overlooked. Just like keyword domains, general term domains tend to generate traffic via their ability to rank in the search engines for the specific term. For this reason, general term domains are valuable, and should be implemented into your online strategy. What we are able to take from the collapse of the (dot) com era, is that you cannot simply register a general term domain, throw a website on it, and expect your business to flourish. Rather, general term domains are just a piece to the puzzle.

Therefore, before you put your plan to work from home with your home business into motion, be certain to spend an ample amount of time selecting your domain name. Take what you have learned today, and decide what works best for your online business.

In order to profitably Work From Home you will need a website for your Home Business. Just make sure that you put a lot of thought into your domain selection. Furthermore, you should stop by and see us at SOSComplete.com
