A man is sitting on his porch with his dog. A passerby glances at the dog and notices that the dog is laying right on a nail. When the person asks the owner why the dog does not get off of the nail, the dog’s owner responds, “It doesn’t hurt enough for him to move.” Often times we are the same way when it comes to money. While we are clearly struggling along the way living paycheck to paycheck, we only are motivated to make money fast when are circumstances become dire, such as a layoff.
Discomfort often is not enough to make us take action. Much of the time the pain must become excruciating before we try and alleviate it. For instance, some college students only realize that they need to start studying once they are on the verge of failing their class. Or the person who allows themselves to be bullied time and time again often allows it to happen until it comes to the point that they are absolutely humiliated. At that time they decide to defend themselves. Similarly, an overweight person might have to watch a friend or family member pass from congestive heart failure before they are motivated to lose the weight.
With a world full of countless negativities, how do we keep motivated? Below, I have provided 26 tips from A to Z.
A. Achieve your dreams. Avoid negative people, things, and places. Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” I strongly agree with her.
B. Believe in the fact that you can accomplish your goals. The most successful people in the world believe strongly that what they dream of will become a reality.
C. Contemplate each scenario from all angles. Recognize the fact that you determination is the fuel to your becoming successful. In order to truly understand any scenario, you need to be able to see the pros and cons.
D. Do not ever quit. Follow the examples which have been set by individuals such as Bill Gates, Danny DeVito, and Thomas Edison. Each of these individuals failed to achieve their goals time and time again, but were still able to pull themselves to success. The only failure you will experience is quitting, because quitting is truly the end of the road.
E. Enjoy your life and live in the present. Work as if you do not need to make money fast. Dance in front of the mirror and laugh at yourself. Better yet, laugh for no reason. Love as if you have never experienced heartbreak. Learn as if you will live for the next three hundred years. The strongest motivation takes place when you are happy.
F. Friends and Family are great “F’s”. You will never replace these, so do not let go of them.
G. Get after it! Go beyond the call of duty. When you take such action, you will become motivated beyond belief.
H. Hang on to your dreams. Do not give them away, and do not allow them to be stolen. While your dreams may dangle for a moment, they are your motivation and will come true if you allow them to.
I. Ignore and pray for those who try to destroy you. Do not let anyone convince you that you cannot. Stay away from toxic people. These are the kinds of miserable people who hate hearing about your success.
J. Just be yourself. While the key to success is being yourself, the key to failure is to try to please everyone. Forget about them.
K. Keep trying no matter how hard life may seem. When a person is motivated, eventually he or she sees a harsh life finally clearing out, paving the way to self improvement.
L. Learn that you need to love yourself. Many people beat themselves up because of their current situation. This is a waste of energy. Rather than beating yourself up, you need to be taking action to lift yourself up.
M. Make life happen as opposed to allowing it to happen to you. True motivation is when your dreams are the ultimate driving factor towards you achieving those dreams.
N. Never engage in dishonest behavior. You will undoubtedly come into contact with opportunities to make money fast which clearly require that you take money, rather than make money. These get rich quick schemes are unethical. Stay away from activities which require that you prosper at someone else’s expense.
O. Open up your eyes and look around. People need to learn from the horse’s attitude and the horse’s sense. Horses can only see two scenarios: 1) How they want things to be and; 2) How they think that things should be. This is what we as people need to do.
P. Practice, practice, practice. Our motivation to achieve perfection is why we practice. Practice is what allows us to learn from repetitive actions, and enables us to rebound from our errors.
Q. Quitters never achieve, and achievers never quit. Hence, you have two choices. You can either choose to be an achiever, or a quitter. It is entirely up to you,.
R. Ready, aim, fire. You become confident and gain motivation be being prepared. When I took the bar exam I was more excited than anything. Why? Because I readied myself with a great deal of preparation. As a result, I was confident.
S. Stop procrastinating. Remember the Nike slogan, “Just Do It”? This is what they meant.
T. Take control of your own environment. When you exude self-control and discipline, you are able to stay motivated. These are core competencies which successful people share.
U. Understand in order to be understood. Sure, you may be a great talker, but are you a good listener? In order to be understood, we must first understand the perspective of who we are speaking to.
V. Visualize it. In the movie, “Any Given Sunday” Al Pachino, who played an American Football coach told Jamie Foxx, who played a third string quarterback turned starter, “You see it before you do it, you see it you do it”. Just remember that visualization without action is a daydream and action without visualization is a nightmare.
W. Want to make your dreams come true more than nearly anything. You must have a laser-like focus on your goals and dreams. Perhaps people will say that you are becoming obsessed. However, you know better. You must continually envision what things will look like once you achieve your goals.
X. X Factors are what separate you from everyone else. These are things which are intangible, and cannot be measured.
Y. Yes, YOU are one of a kind. Only you see things through your eyes, and have the perception which you have. Value your uniqueness.
Z. Zero in on what it is that you want to accomplish. If it is your goal to make money fast, do not stop until you accomplish this goal.
